CACTIPUS - By Sam

An illustration I made and edited on photoshop to show how the painting will look on a brown canvas. I think I will make the white layer with a stencil and make it intentionally messy, then paint neatly on top with black paint.  Realistically I might just make this painting, the drip canvas and my 10 digital print series. Let me know what you think...

Drips - By Sam

Me and Rob have been going to this graffiti spot in tay ho to spraypaint.  The top photo is my drip pattern with spraycans and the bottom is a natural pipe leak from the roof. I'm thinking about how I could use the drip pattern in a piece for the show. It could look nice just with a range of green cans on a canvas or maybe another element involved too. I want to make it look really natural like the pipe leak...

Working progress, I think the shape still needs more p/shopping... (Maybe too wide at the lower sides and not pointy enough at the bottom) Not sure, I like that it's kind of scarred and rough, as well as having a spiky exterior just adds character to it's reputation as a 'love it' or 'hate it' fruit.

The start of my series of prints. These are the first 3 in my series of 10 illustrations. I decided digital prints would work well for this style, I like the small patterned background and this would be too small for screen print. The plant will morph into a man and he will climb out of the ground. I will go back later to add shadow details to the illustrations. Let me know what you think....

Found these illustrations on behance. It gave me the idea to do at least one or maybe a series of 4 alien plant illustrations, I'm not sure about the style yet, but I'd like to make then like diagrams with labels and stuff. need to get to work!

I love BLU so much. I think he's got to be my favourite street artist.  You may have all seen this video, but anyway, I have had some inspiration from his animations for my print series in the exhibition.  I want to make plant cycle series like I said before but a plant morphing into a person then climbing out of the ground. I've started making sketches and will upload them soon...

Perhaps Rob can relate too with the crazy forms that morph out of BLU's characters... they may have some similarities to your stencils perhaps..? - Sam
